MOURNING DOVE
Mourning Dove makes sound art compositions of organic field recordings, experimental voice, and minimal instrumentation- a noise and freak folk ensemble that tends towards the otherworldly, often paired with other media. Organized by poet, sound, video, and visual artist Elena Botts.
Elena Botts has lived in the Hudson Valley, Johannesburg, Berlin, NYC, DC, and many other places. In the past few years, Botts’ poems have been published in dozens of literary magazines. Botts is the winner of four poetry contests and has had six books published. The visual artwork has won numerous awards and has been exhibited in various galleries. Botts has also collaborated on, released and exhibited sound and moving image art.
Botts has organized The Unknown Sound Collective to further explore artistic collaborations.
